Statewide Burning Ban Remains

A burning ban remains in effect for all of North Carolina because of the severely dry conditions that have occurred for much of this year. Rainfall totals for the year range from 10 to 20 inches below normal. Over the past six weeks drought conditions have once again intensified. Most areas of Eastern North Carolina received less than one inch of rain in November with some locations barely getting any rain at all. Since the beginning of December there has been little or no rain. The next chance for significant rainfall will be over the weekend although it is too early to tell how much, if any, will fall.
