Major Storm Cripples Midwest

A major winter storm has brought a large section of the Midwest to a halt as ice is snapping trees and bringing down power lines. The hardest hit states include Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, and northern Illinois. So far the storm has left about 1 million folks without electricity. In Oklahoma alone there are 600,000 homes and businesses without power. States of emergency have been declared in Oklahoma, Kansas, and Missouri. Some areas have ice as thick as an inch. At least 23 deaths have been attributed to storm thus far.
