There was an extreme contrast of temperatures across the United States on Monday. The hottest readings were in southern Texas where Harlingen and McAllen each reached 88 degrees. Snow blanketed much of the northern third of the United States helping to keep temperatures quite low. The coldest reading early this morning occurred in Hibbing, Minnesota with a temperature of 23 below zero. Precipitation was quite heavy across the Midwest. Oklahoma City, Oklahoma has received 2.76" of rainfall during the last 24 hours. Much of the rain froze to trees and power lines causing severe icing conditions in that area.
