Winter weather causes travel problems in Colorado but helps ski

UNDATED (AP) -- Severe winter weather in Colorado has led to
accidents that completely shut down one interstate and part of
another.
The mountains of Colorado and Nevada are seeing as a much as two
feet of snow.
A spokesman for Colorado's Department of Transportation
Department says the main East-West interstates are now reopened.
The only thing stil closed is the highest mountain pass at
Loveland.
The wintry weather comes to the delight of ski resorts. A
spokeswoman for one ski area says the snow is what the slopes
"really needed to get the season going."
Earlier, the same system moved though Southern California. But
it blew through so quickly that the region escaped feared mudslides
and flooding. Officials in Orange County ordered evacuations out of
concern the heavy rain could bring down hillsides left bare of
trees and vegetation by recent wildfires. It didn't happen and
people who fled have now been allowed to go back home.
