CHEHALIS, Wash. (AP) -- Washington Governor Chris Gregoire
(GREG'-wahr) says the damage from the storm that belted the Pacific
Northwest could be in the billions of dollars.
The storm killed at least seven people, leaving behind flooded
homes, fallen trees and washed out roads.
Gregoire says she expects a presidential emergency declaration
that could speed the delivery of humanitarian supplies such as food
At least 300 people have been rescued by helicopters in what
Gregoire describes as the state's largest aerial search-and-rescue
operation in a decade.
The storm has since moved east, dumping snow across the Midwest.
It's blamed for two traffic deaths in Wisconsin and a bus crash in
Indiana that injured 21 people.
