KALAPARA, Bangladesh (AP) -- Officials in Bangladesh have
confirmed only a single death but its feared the toll will go
higher from the collapse of a bridge today under the weight of
stampeding cyclone victims.
Rescue workers are trying to remove concrete slabs in their
search for victims. Dozens of people are reported injured.
The bridge is in one of the areas hit hardest by last week's
devastating cyclone. Government officials say food being
distributed by a private agency apparently triggered a stampede
involving thousands of people. A disaster management official says
local officials had not been alerted to the plans
