A strong cold front will push off the North Carolina coast early Friday morning ushering in much colder air. Sunrise shoppers will see gusty winds and temperatures in the middle and upper 40s. Little temperature rise is expected so that a midday chill will continue with the mercury hovering near 50. Wind chills will stay in the lower to middle 40s during the late morning and afternoon as north winds will be gusty at times between 10 and 20 mph. By early evening temperatures will plummet quickly into the lower 40s as winds diminish.
