Scientists at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's National Climate Data Center in Asheville have indicated that October 2007 was the ninth warmest on record for the contiguous 48 United States. The global temperature was the sixth warmest on record. The scientists at NOAA noted that the period from January through October 2007 the United States temperature was the ninth warmest since national records began in 1895.
