Temperatures will show a noticeable warm-up after a frosty start on Saturday morning. The cold temperatures on Friday night prompted the National Weather Service to issue a freeze warning for much of coastal North Carolina. Carteret, Pamlico, Hyde Tyrrell, and Mainland Dare County were put under a warning due to temperatures that were expected to reach close to the freezing mark. Inland areas have already experienced freezing temperatures and were not under the warning although overnight readings were expected to plummet into the middle and upper 20s.
The cold temperatures will be replaced by highs near 60 on Saturday and Sunday and the nice weather should continue into the middle of next week. By next Wednesday temperatures should reach the upper 60s. There is little or no chance for rain through early next week.
