Warm Winter Predicted In Southeast

The Climate Prediction Center has gone on record indicating this winter's temperatures (December through February) will average above normal. There is a general consensus that La Nina conditions (water temperatures below normal in the Equatorial Pacific Ocean) will continue most of this winter. La Nina conditions are usually correlated with warmer readings in the Southeast including North Carolina. At this point it is not indicated how far above normal they expect temperatures to be. In addition, rainfall should average below normal through the winter months. Consequently, the drought is not expected to end over the next three months.
