Saving Energy In Your Home

The Department of Energy indicates that about 56% of energy use in your typical home is accounted for by heating and cooling.

When building a home your contractor should give you energy fact sheets to help you make the selection of more energy efficient items easier. You should always look for the ENERGY STAR. ENERGYSTAR labeled products can cut your energy bills by up to 30%.

The Department of Energy recommends the cleaning or replacement of furnace filters once a month or as needed. You should also get professional maintenance at least once a year. During the summer months ceiling fans are suggested since that should allow you to lower your thermostat 4 degrees. For additional information you can go to
