As some people in Eastern Carolina are struggling to make ends meet there are those that are doing just fine. In fact, they are buying some of the million dollar homes that are on the market.
You might think million dollar homes are just in places like New York and Beverly Hills. But there are plenty right here in our backyard.
WITN spoke with real-estate agent Ginni McKinley of Coastal Rivers Realty in Washington. “The rest of us are struggling but the rich are still rich,” said McKinley who recently gave WITN a tour of a 1.1 million dollar home located near River Road in Beaufort County.
“By the time they're buying a million dollar home they are excited but not like the little guy that’s buying a $100,000 home. That’s excitement you can’t imagine. But these guys have realized their dream. They’ve gotten to where they want to be and there is a different kind of excitement. A little calmer maybe than the young first time buyer,” said McKinley.
Heather Sakers of Seaside Reality on the Outer Banks gave WITN a virtual tour of a 3.4 million dollar home in Duck, NC located in Dare County. The home is about 6,300 square feet with amazing views of the water.
Alma Friedman and her husband are developers in Beaufort County. They have villas available near Moss Landing in Washington. A pad like theirs goes for about 1.15 million dollars. Friedman says her places come with Thermador appliances. The 48 inch refrigerator she has in her home lists on the internet for about $8,200 dollars. Her penthouse apartment is not for sale but she says she has plenty of luxury living available in her building.

The fact that someone lives in a million dollar home may attest to the fact that the person works hard. I'm pretty sure that are paying lots of tax money, so the " struggling people" can get government assistance. Some of these "struggling people" are struggling because they have lived WAY BEYOND their income for a long time, and now it is coming back to bite them!
