Over a 100 people descended on the town common in Grifton Saturday to voice their concerns over gay marriage.

They want state lawmakers to pass a House and Senate bill which would add a marriage amendment to the states constitution.

The group We Luv Marriage says they want to send a message to lawmakers letting them know exactly how they feel.

"I want to make sure marriage stays the way it is," says Amy Weber who came to the event with her children and her husband Doug.

North Carolina does not allow gay marriage and many here want lawmakers to make sure that door stays closed.

Which is why there are pushing for a constitutional amendment to North Carolina's state Constitution.

"It's not wanting to change the law," says Johanna Heltsley one of the event organizers. "It's to make sure that the law is clearly defined as one man and one woman."

As of now only 5 states allow gay marriage and that would be Massachusetts, Vermont, Connecticut, Iowa Maine.

New Hampshire has passed a bill that would allow gay marriage but it's not clear if the governor will sign it.

Rhode Island has legislation pending.

1oftheclosedminded as of recently and over the past years, slowly, the gay community is going after the American community inorder to make their lifestyle an acceptabable lifestyle. They are plugging away "literally" at getting this shoved down our throats before conservatives take back over. Why? They have a liberal president and both houses. I am guessing that GBHB has an extended stay in the Castro district......we have not heard from him.
