Magnolia Arts Center will present The Last Five Years by Jason Robert Brown, July 14-17 at the Music Academy of Eastern Carolina, 1400 Red Banks Rd., Greenville, NC. Synopsis:

The Last Five Years follows a young couple in an interesting fashion – her story begins as their relationship ends, and his starts when they meet. The trials and tribulations of modern love are chronicled in this exciting new musical.

Magnolia Arts Center is accepting scripts for the Sixth Annual Ten Minute Play Contest. Entries must be no longer than 10 minutes when read or performed. A panel of judges will pick the top five entries which will receive a staged reading for the public in November. A prize of $50 will be awarded to the winner as chosen by the audience. Entries will be accepted until August 31, 2011. Playwrights may submit original, non-published work to Magnolia Arts Center, 1117 Bryson Drive, Greenville, NC, 27834, or on line at www.magnoliaartscenter.com. Arts Gone Live

New Bern Riverfront Convention Center
Great food, casual dress, and the excitement of art created "in the moment" are the backdrop for Craven Arts Council & Gallery's 5th Annual Art Auction—"Arts Gone Live!" This event takes place Friday, September 18, 2009, 6-10 p.m. at the New Bern Riverfront Convention Center and brings together 30 artists creating pieces on the spot for silent bid. Forty additional works of other artists will be available for silent bid as well. Tickets are $50 for members; $60 for non-members. Contact the Craven Arts Council & Gallery to make a reservation by credit card or to get more information. All proceeds from the Auction go to support Craven Arts Council & Gallery.
