North Carolina Shell Show
Sat 9-5; Sun 1-5
The annual North Carolina Shell Show will return once again to the Cape Fear Museum in Wilmington. On Sept. 20 and 21 the Museum will be filled with shell exhibits, shell vendors, the popular “pick a shell” table where you can start your own shell collection, experts to answer questions about shells and more. The Show is free with your Museum admission. Exhibitors from several States will participate, many displaying shells not found in North Carolina. This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about seashells.
Reveal: Portraits by Carrie Levy
North Carolina Museum of Art
Carrie Levy’s portraits reveal everything and nothing at the same time. This solo exhibition features photographs selected from several series Levy created over the past decade and a half. Vulnerable, disquieting, and unsettling, her portraits explore the politics of representation: the gaze of the photographer and the subject of the gaze.
