Citizens Involved In Government, Inc. (CIG) is sponsoring a Candidates' Forum on 04/08/14 from 6 PM - 9 PM at the Pamlico Co. Courthouse. All candidates are invited to participate. This will give the community a chance to test the pulse of the candidates and the candidates a chance to test the pulse of the community. Walk a Mile in Her Shoes / Take Back the Night

On March 3rd at 6:00pm, Gamma Sigma Sigma (a national service sorority at ECU) is sponsoring an event along with Greenville PD and Office of Victim Services.

This event is being held to raise awareness and support those who have been victims of sexual violence. We will be having a walk beginning at college hill followed by a candle light vigil at the end of the walk near Joyner Library.

This event is open to the public and are welcoming all to join us.

Onslow County Public Library hosts Dangerous Marine Life with Executive Vice President of the nonprofit NC Aquarium Society Mark Joyner

(Onslow County) – Onslow County Public Library and the Swansboro Friends of the Library will host Executive Vice President Mark Joyner of the nonprofit NC Aquarium Society at the Swansboro Recreation Center on Thursday, March 6 at 6:30 pm for a fun and interactive evening learning about what might be swimming below you in our North Carolina waters.

Bring the whole family to learn about sharks, stingrays, venomous and toxic fishes, stinging jellyfish & electric rays! Learn the natural history of these animals & how to avoid encounters or treat the aftermath.

Mr. Joyner has worked with the North Carolina Aquariums for over thirty years and currently serves as Executive Vice President of the nonprofit NC Aquarium Society. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology and a Master’s degree in Education from NC State University. He is a recipient of the Order of the Long Leaf Pine and author of over a dozen natural history articles that have been featured in Wildlife in North Carolina magazine.
