The Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association is having a historical Markers Benefit ride to raise funds to support the Wounded Warriors of Camp Lejeune as well as the Veterans of Onslow County. This is an Annual event that is put on by the Onslow County Chapter CVMA NC 15-4. Come out and Show your Support for the Veterans of Onslow County and the Wounded Warriors of Camp Lejeune. Registration 0900-1200, KSU 1100-1200, Last bike out at 1200 Last bike in at 1500. Riders will depart in Groups of no more than 8, Staggered by 5-10 minute intervals. Each Rider will receive a route package that will explain the ride and route to them. Prizes will be awarded at 1500, Food Served after Ride. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place Prizes, a 50/50 Drawing, Door prizes, Silent Auction, Raffle items . Tickets $25.00 for Riders, $10.00 for Passengers. Price includes: One Door Prize Ticket and One Meal Ticket. There will be a Pig Pickin, Hotdogs, Burgers, and all the fixins. Sponsored by: NC CVMA Chapter 15-4.

In January of 2013, Heather suffered sudden cardiac death and anoxic brain damage due to lack of oxygen during the cardiac arrest. She had a pacemaker/defibrillator implanted and was found to have a genetic heart defect which causes the walls of her heart to thicken, called Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) .She was hospitalized for 7 months until being able to go home to her family. With the brain damage she has to relearn to do everything from swallowing, walking, using her left side, using her muscles together to do everyday tasks. She is not able to eat and has a g-tube in her stomach for feeding. She also can’t talk yet and goes to therapy each week. She takes 25 medicines daily. She continues to have complications such as seizures, twists in her intestines and fainting. She is a determined 17 year old young lady with a great attitude and beautiful smile. She loves motorcycles and can’t wait to see and hear all the bikes.
There will also be a 50/50 raffle as well as a $10.00 Raffle for $100 Gift Card Redeemable at Longhorn Steakhouse, Red Lobster, and Olive Garden.
Also there will be Hot Dog plates (hot dogs, chips, drinks and chili) available for purchase.

Officer Down Memorial Ride

The ride starts at Carteret Community College, in Morehead City. Registration begins at 10:00 am and the motorcycles go out at 11:00 am. The ride fee is $15.00 for the rider and $5.00 for a passenger. The motorcycle ride will travel along Crystal Coast to honor the fallen Law Enforcement Officer's from Carteret County. Food will be provided at the end of the ride. Also there will be drawings, door prizes, 50/50 drawing and more. Proceeds will assist the family's of Officer's killed in the line of duty

Swansboro Rotary Club’s 35th annual Oyster Roast and Pig-Out will be March 15, 5-8 p.m.
Tickets purchased in advance are $45. They allow entry to one of the club’s most popular fundraisers, an all-you-can-eat extravaganza that takes place indoors at the Rotary Civic Center in Swansboro.
Machine Gun, a popular and well-known variety band from Wilmington, will provide musical entertainment.
Diners are reminded to bring an oyster knife and a glove. In addition to oysters, the menu includes roasted pig, fried fish, clam chowder, hot dogs with chili, cole slaw, hush puppies, condiments and a variety of beverages.
The civic center, which is on West Main Street Extension off NC 24 behind Family Care Pharmacy, provides a spacious indoor area for diners. It will be equipped with several large screen televisions tuned to the NCAA basketball tournament.
Tickets purchased at the door will cost $50. Tickets for children 15 and younger are $20, available only at the door.
Proceeds from the event are used to benefit youth scholarships and projects in Onslow and Carteret counties.

Great Glow Run benefitting Easter Seals UCP
The Easter Seals UCP Great Glow Run will light up Greenville in support of individuals and families managing disabilities and mental health challenges. The illuminated 5K evening race will be held Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Town Common. Check-in begins at 6:00 p.m. and the race starts at 8:00 p.m. Participants will don glow and LED gear as they join other enthused runners on an eye-catching, glimmering course.
Register by April 18 at GreatGlowRun.com for just $35. Unless sold out, day of event registration is $50. Active duty military are eligible for a special $25 registration; team discounts also available.
