Tom Skinner is the anchor of WITN-7 News at Noon. He is also WITN's Country Rover with a weekly feature about the people, places and things that make Eastern Carolina a special place to live.
Tom's first brush with live television was as a child guest on WITN's Cowboy Bob Show in 1959. From that moment on, Tom says he knew he wanted to be involved in TV. Tom has worked extensively in radio and television news both in the U.S. and overseas where he served in the U.S. Army as a broadcast journalist. His military assignments included Central Europe, Central America and the Gulf War in Iraq.
Tom was WITN-7's Manteo Bureau Chief from 1998-2003 where he anchored daily newscasts on Charter Cable throughout the Outer Banks. Most recently, he worked as WITN's Managing Editor in charge of news assignments.
Tom grew up in Eastern Carolina and is the son of Tom and Alice Skinner of Nags Head, and the grandson of the late Maggie Roberson of Washington, North Carolina. He is a resident of Washington, NC.
