Rachael Cardin knew she wanted to be a news reporter since before high school graduation and always had the support of her family to chase that dream. However, she had other hobbies that she wanted to continue through college as well, like running and writing.
"I wanted to find a school that could fit all aspects of my lifestyle, and help me grow as a person," Cardin said. "After months of searching, Westfield was that place." She enrolled in the Communication and Business programs the fall after high school graduation and says the time flew! "I made lifelong friends through my running teams, was able to prepare myself for my career with the help of great professors and had the world's most amazing and supportive roomates."
Having two media internships only made Rachael more and more eager to start a broadcast career of her own. She traveled to Tampa for the Republican National Convention in the summer of 2012 to work with CNN. That next year she completed a spring internship with WGGB-TV in Springfield, MA.
Taking her first job as a reporter at WOAY TV in Oak Hill, WV, Rachael realized reporting was the perfect job for her! She covered all aspects of news and made some great friends along the way.
Now stationed in Jacksonville, Rachael loves how close she is to the beach! She says she is excited to interact with the people in that area and bring important information to the communities of Eastern North Carolina.
Rachael lives in Jacksonville with her kitten, Kyra.
