A North Carolina military training contractor that hopes to build five shooting ranges in Cumberland County says it doesn't intend to expand beyond those plans.
The Fayetteville Observer reports neighbors aren't sure about that promise.
Apex-based TigerSwan hopes to build the shooting ranges on 50 acres now owned by Southern Produce Distributors Inc.
TigerSwan operates a 40-acre firing range in Linden for Fort Bragg soldiers, local police and hunters. TigerSwan Chief Executive James P. Reese says that range will close if the new ranges on Barra Farms near Cedar Creek are approved for military training by the Defense Department.
Reese and other officials met earlier this week with nearby residents and landowners, who say they're concerned that TigerSwan plans a larger operation later.

TigerSwan is a war profiteer and contributes to the expansion and perpetuation of the US imperialism which gave birth to the whole terrorist problem to begin with. North Carolina's economy needs to get the war profit needle out of its arm and get a real economy that rebuilds infrastructure, creates green jobs and educates our children to have professional choices other than enlisting to become 'killing machines'. Stop TigerSwan's expansion and growth. Contact Xe Watch (aka Backwater Watch) today at http://xewatch.info.
Just let them criminals they catch, the dopeheads and the drunks as well run around in a large fenced in area as targets. That would greatly increase our troop's marksmanship rather than paper targets. This way too, those criminals could better serve society, rather than sitting in some air conditioned cell watching Maury. Too bad them liberals will complain how this is cruel and unusual punishment. Them criminals shouldn't have used them drugs or robbed someone or worse to begin with.
