One police department in the east wants to stop people from popping pills if it's not prescribed to them.
A drive was held in New Bern to encourage folks to get rid of their old or unused medications.
The New Bern Police Department along with the Coastal Coalition for Substance Abuse Prevention and the Neuse Riverkeeper Foundation sponsored a free and anonymous drug disposal program.
It took place Saturday at local Food Lion stores and it was dubbed "the pills can kill" campaign.
The object of the drive was to do their part in battling the growing problem of prescription drug abuse.
The organizations also encouraged parents to talk to their children about the dangers of prescription drug abuse.

If these pills are so deadly, Why are they even sold? Why is it legal for drug companies to advertise something so deadly? Why are doctors prescribing them? They should all be banned from the market if they are that deadly.
Pills don't kill, guns don't kill cars don't kill,,You could go on and on, but when it is all said and done,,,, it's being stupid that kills and folks there is no cure for that.
