The Pitt Community College softball team left for St. George, Utah Tuesday morning as they get set to compete in the National Junior College Division One Fast Pitch Championships. A big reason the Region X champs earned a trip to Utah has been the play of freshman pitcher Charity Watson. The Beaufort County native is this week's player of the week.
A Washington High School product, Watson has a 0.45 earned run average. In 185 2/3 innings this season, she has allowed just 12 earned runs, and her 1.87 strikeouts per inning is currently the nation’s second-best average among Division I pitchers.
