Player Of The Week: Keeping The Dream Alive

It's been 5 years since Jacksonville, North Carolina native Richard Koonce suited up for the ECU football team. While most players would have given up long ago, Koonce won't let go of his dream of playing in the NFL.

Richard koonce had his shot, in fact he's had several. But the former Pirate captain is not ready to let the dream die.

Even though most former players give it one, maybe two shots, Koonce showed up at ECU's pro day a week ago, five years after he last suited up at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium. He looked like a man on a mission.

Koonce made it to the final cut of the linebacker rich Pittsburgh Steelers in 2007 and got a call from the Carolina Panthers last year but that didn't pan out. So here he sits. Getting highlight DVD's and information packets together to hand to NFL scouts... Hoping one, just one will take notice.

For koonce..that dream is still alive.
