Player of the Week: "Weasel"

Washington -- At Washington High School in Beaufort County, the win record in wrestling used to be 138.

That was before Weasel.

"You got to put the effort into it if you want to be good," said Justin Moore, known as Weasel to his teammates and friends. "The early years kinda came natural for me, I won my first tournament when I started."

The effort paid off for Moore, who now holds the Pam Pack record for most wins with 140. Wrestling was a good fit for Moore. He began the sport about eight years ago and has excelled ever since.

His coach, Daniel Riggs, says he's seen Weasel's talent grow over the years.

"He works hard," said Riggs. "I know over the summer he put a lot of time in going into camps and working with the club team and wrestling in a lot of tournaments."

And wrestling in all those tournaments put this 171-pound weight class competitor in the top spot, ranking first in the state. It's a title this senior doesn't take lightly.

"I would say people look at it like it's more pressure, but it doesn't really bother me," said Moore. "I know I've got something to live up to. If they say I am number one in the state, I better do it."

Now with roughly one month left until state competition, Weasel says he'll push on to be the best he can while leaving his mark at Washington High School.
