Fayetteville -- The Rocky Mount High School boys basketball team beat Triton 82-67 in the Class 3A Eastern Regional Final while the Rocky Mount girls lost to Williams 54-50.
The boys will head to next weekend's 3A state title game after an impressive showing in Fayetteville on Saturday where five Gryphons players scored in double figures.
Terrill Hilliard led the way with 25 points. Lavon Brutus, Kenneth Peoples, Jr., Dante Battle and Tevin taylor also scored in double figures to help Rocky Mount to a 26-3 record.
Rocky Mount will play for the 3A state title Saturday March 10th at 7:30pm at the Dean Smith Center in Chapel Hill.
The Rocky Mount girls team got 19 points from ECU recruit J'Kyra Brown but couldn't overcome the hot shooting of Williams who shot 58.6% from the field.
The Rocky Mount girls season comes to an end, also with a 26-3 record.
