Two wrestlers from Eastern Carolina won state championships Saturday in Greensboro.
Havelock senior Jake Smith won his championship match at 113 in 3A to take first place. Last year he was a state champion at 103. He won Saturday's match 4-2 in overtime.
The only other wrestler from Eastern Carolina to win first place is Jacksonville junior Tyler Ross at 120 in 3A. Ross won his championship match 10-9.
Congratulations to Smith and Ross and all the wrestlers who competed in the state tournament.

100 high school wrestlers from across Eastern Carolina will compete for a state championship in Greensboro Thursday through Saturday.
The wrestling kicks off Thursday afternoon at the Greensboro Coliseum.
There are 22 wrestlers from the east competing in 1A, 33 in 2A, 37 in 3A, and 8 in 4A.
