Oakwood Girls Win Conference, Opening Round Of Playoffs

On the heels of Saturday's Overtime CPIC Conference Championship victory vs. Greenfield, The Oakwood Eagles Girls defeated Trinity of Durham on Tuesday in Greenville in the opening round of the state 1-A playoffs.

Harmony Simpkins was Oakwood's leading scorer with 30. TeAmber Burke, star of Saturday's OT thriller, added 12 points. Lauren Moore had 8, Caroline Collier scored 6 and Sue Ann Forest hit a clutch shot in the final minute.

Camille Morgan was Trinity's leading scorer with 25 points.

The 26-3 Oakwood Girls will play Calvary Baptist in Winston-Salem in the second round of the state tournament on Thursday @ 7pm.

    The game was tied at 52 with a minute and a half to go. The final score was 58-52.
