"For unReal", PLEASE! the BG kids accepted what was dictated to them and they don't care. They knew it was going to be forced on them whether they wanted the colors & mascots or not so they took it and moved on. The pushy, arrogant powers that be in Williamston don't always march in lockstep. In the future, they will have disagreements amongst each other and with their current lap dogs from Roanoke district. When they happen, they will look to the residents of Bear Grass and Jamesville to tilt the scale in their direction. Look for that to be a hard sell, even when your desires would result in a residual benefit for those who you just bent over. Looking forward to seeing the wax melting off of banker boys mustache when he needs us and gets dissed, sending his temperature up. If we have to cut our noses off in spite of our faces, the school board and community members who pushed this will get a cold shoulder just when they need a hand the most. What goes around, comes around. Bayhka!!

Just so you will know...the kids voted on the new name, colors and mascot for the combined Roanoke/Bear Grass school and it was motioned and approved by the BOE just this past week. The kids for the combined Willliamston/Jamesville school have not made a concrete decision just yet for a name, colors and mascot, but they will ALL come together. So, it seems that the kids of Martin County do get a say in what they want THEIR school name, colors and mascot to be. To Terry: Not ALL Martin County citizens are narrow minded...but the ones who are seem to have the biggest mouths.

"hahaha", np??? is that Bethel? Is there a Bethel? The last time I was in Bethel it looked like a foreign country. What a complete, run down, delapidated dump. Williamston may look like Detroit after a race riot, but it is still the center of all human existence and it would pay you not to forget it. Terry, I am sure there are kids from all over the county eagerly lining up to go into a massive slum and take classes in tinker toy technology and lego joining on the campus of one of the most violent schools in the state. Yeah, why don't you leave your pleasant little hamlet of Princeton (as opposed to Princeville) and go live in the heart of Goldsboro for a month. Don't go talking smack, you wouldn't last long enough to use a loaf of bread. You say you are offended, well read the statistics and get back to reality creampuff. You have allowed yourself to become one of the government and mass media's mindless sheep, brainwashed completely. Utopia is a myth, socialism oppresses! Bayhka!!!

why dont you all shut up and let the kids play their sport and let their parents worry about were they choose to put their kid at. durn. it REALLY aint that serious. williamston ain't king and neither is goldsboro. np panthers.

Mr. or Mrs. Enough.. you may want to check on that because I doubt that much info would be passed around with out something going on. I heard from a co-worker last year about the mascot and some other things. And let's get real, the political powers that want things will get them no matter what the students want. Even though that would be nice if it were true that the kids for once had a say. But we all know that Willamston and Martin County are too political for that. And lets furthermore be honest that Willamston will get what they want over any other area in the county.

Ok Baker your arrogance is exceeded only by your ignorance. These kids are coming into that school from other districts.... other schools around the county. They are all "Wayne county" kids. Basically what you are saying is that you think the city of Goldsboro is mostly black so therefore the school system is only capable producing Illiterate graduates that only get into college based on affirmative action type programs? WOW! As a white male I am offended at that!! I'm hoping that someone else from Williamston will speak up as a voice of reason and show the other readers that not everyone from that area is as narrow minded as you are.

I have a child at Williamston High School. The only thing that has been voted on - by the students - is the "POSSIBLE" new colors. There has not been a decision on a new name or mascot as of yet. The choices will be given to the STUDENTS to vote on. The votes/choices from last year have NOT been set in stone. Hopefully, if it does have to be changed, then Martin County students will be the ones to name THEIR school and choose THEIR mascot.

I don't care if they use players from the school of engineering. Without this state tax dollar absorbing, special project school, these kids would be in Goldsboro High School anyway. They all occupy the same facility, different building, maybe, but all part of the same facility. In other words, they are all Goldsboro kids and the numbers in the district have declined so sharply that Goldsboro has wallowed its way to 1A, period. It is what happens when towns die because of economic repression and white flight. Say what you want Terry, the numbers don't lie, test scores would incicate that you wouldn't have very many students left in that decaying town that would qualify for a real engineering program. Making Flintstones cars with erector sets is engineering but it isn't designing bridges. If MIT, NC State, Georgia Tech, Cal Tech, Stanford or Purdue come recruiting students it will be because of political correctness and the pickings will still be slim. Bayhka!!

"For Real" - Are you kidding? This is Williamston but it may as well be Bakerton. Come to Martin County and you will bow to me, you can just curtsey to my brother, but you will bow to the Bayhka!! Why is it Riverside-Baker Memorial High School INDEED!?!

Anonymous.... WOW!! You don’t need to say anything negative about any school other than the one you graduated from. I’m looking at your terrible grammar and the run on sentence disguised as a paragraph. I think the school you went too could use a little help.
