Quarterback Danny Webster Leaving Havelock

(Havelock) -- Quarterback Danny Webster is leaving Havelock High School just two days after the Rams lose a 34-14 season opener to rival New Bern.

Rams head coach Jim Bob Bryant confirmed Webster's departure but would not comment any further saying he was focused on the players currently on his team.

Webster was sub-par against the Bears on Friday night going 10-of-21 through the air for 83 yards and he threw two interceptions.

Webster, who is committed to play next season for ECU, is coming off a season where he threw for more than 2,700 yards and also ran for more than 1,500 yards in leading the Rams to a 13-2 record.

When things didn't go well for Tiffany Shaw at ECU (got beat out by a freshman) she quit the softball team. "Sam", if you guys keep collecting quitters, it will become an ECU legacy! Baykha!!!

Sam, if he quit at Havelock when his team faced adversity what do you think he will do at ECU if he faces adversity. He's the last thing we need at ECU, a selfish QB.

Ok, so luke's mom and dad have dumped a ton of money into williamston/riversides football program, so what? He is finally playing some when it is like his last year in high school and he isn't that good anyway. I mean, the starting QB got hurt so they needed someone to step up. emery was a running back who got switched to QB even though he couldnt really throw that good. luke couldn't handle the job when the starter went down and emery played it. So what did all that money buy ...nothing? so he is playing some now, big deal. I know those beargrass kids are smarter than us but football isnt about being smart...its about talent and skill...

Comming from a source close to the coach...Webster was mad that he got pulled when the game was out of reach, so he "quit" and told Jimbob that he couldnt win a championship there and was going to go somewhere that he could...when he contacted the coach of the other school, they said he couldnt play football for them bc they didnt want a quiter, he called jimbob on saturday evening wanting to come back, and jimbom said no...once again, that comes from a source close to the coach...

Look at what you started Bill. Nice going whiney! this should be more about Craven County. All I'm saying is as long as Webster ends up at ECU and does great for the pirates, then I'll be glad.

Hahaha..football must be from beargrass...by the way chris matthews hasnt done anything for luke to be QB!! As i remember and this is comin from someone who has played with luke and has two brothers playin with him now...Luke didnt play much with emery bein there..pretty sure if he bought his son a spot luke would have started infront of him...anyway on to Jimbob...They guy is a stand up coach..i played for him...im sure he still has the same talk to me before your parents rule...he always wanted to talk to the player before the parents....Football isnt about parents...its about talent and skill...

"sportsguy" sounds like a disgruntled whiner from White Oak High School. Whiner and maybe even a sports writer at the local paper. hmmmm.

How has this blog gone from being about Danny Webster at Havelock to Williamston Football??? I mean really people, stick to the subject and if you can't comment on the issue at hand, then just don't comment at all. . . plain and simple!

Bill, I don't even claim Martin County other than the fact I was raised there and have family there. That whole county sucks. BTW, that was not a selfish comment.
