The girls on the Pitt County Babe Ruth 12U Softball Team got the celebrity treatment when they returned home Thursday night from winning the world series in Florida. A stretch limo brought the girls to the Sara Law Complex in Winterville with a Pitt County sheriff's deputy escort.
The team went undefeated in the seven-day event to claim the championship Wednesday night. They outscored their opponents by a combined score of 75-11.
This is the ninth world series title ever won by a team from the Pitt County Girls Softball League. Eight of those titles have been won in the 12 and under division.
