Thomas, Stocker Direct TD Drives In Spring Game

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -- Pete Thomas and Manny Stocker both directed touchdown drives in the second half of North Carolina State's spring game in their fight to become the starting quarterback this fall.

Thomas led the game's first scoring drive late in the third quarter on Saturday, ending with Milton Hall's 4-yard scoring run. Florida transfer Jacoby Brissett -- who will sit out this season -- followed that with a 39-yard scoring pass that ultimately helped Red beat White 20-10.

Stocker finally got on the board late in the fourth quarter, squeezing in a 36-yard scoring pass to Bra'Lon Cherry through double coverage on fourth down.

The game offered Wolfpack fans their first glimpse at new schemes brought by Dave Doeren, who left Northern Illinois to take over after the firing of Tom O'Brien.
