Stewart Garners C-USA Co-Player Of The Week Honors

GREENVILLE, N.C. – Senior Celeste Stewart earned her first career Conference USA Player of the Week honor after an impressive performance last week in which she averaged 18.5 points per game, 3.5 rebounds per game, tallied eight assists, and shot 53.3-percent from the field.

Stewart poured in a career-best 26 points against SMU to help life the Pirates over the Mustangs, 63-47, and hand SMU its first conference loss of the season while snapping its 10-game winning streak. She had a huge second half, tallying 19 of her 26 points in the frame and shooting 72.7-percent (8-of-11). In the contest, she shot 57.9-percent as she connected on 11-of-19 field goals.

The Charlotte, N.C., native came back three days later against Southern Miss and recorded another double-figure scoring game with 11 points to mark her 11th double-figure contest in 12 games. She was one of four Pirates to notch double-figures as ECU routed the Golden Eagles, 82-60, to mark its highest scoring conference game of the year.

“We are really proud of Celeste,” Head Coach Heather Macy said. “She has been doing such a great job for us. It’s great to see her accomplishments recognized by the conference.”

On the season, Stewart is the Pirates’ second leading scorer as she is averaging 11.6 points per game on the year. In conference action, she leads the ECU offense as she averages 14.6 points per contest.

Overall, she leads the squad with 97 assists, while adding 71 rebounds, and 36 steals.
