The Southside girls and the Croatan boys are among the area teams that have locked down conference basketball titles as the regular season schedule comes to a close.
The Southside girls, ranked #3 in the latest Class 1-A State poll, knocked off top ranked Riverside Tuesday night in Williamston 74-67. Katisha Hyman scored 26 points in the victory as the Seahawks improve to 21-2 and secure the 1-A Four Rivers Crown. Riverside drops to 21-2 on the season.
The Croatan boys team picked up the school's first ever basketball conference title by beating South Lenoir 70-53 on the road to clinch the 2-A East Central title. Croatan improved to 19-1, 12-1 in the conference. The Cougars close out the regular season Friday night at home against Richlands. The Cougars currently hold a two game advantage over Richlands in the conference standings.
