GREENVILLE, N.C. – For the second-straight day, East Carolina donned full pads going through a three-hour practice under cloudy skies at Hight Field inside the Cliff Moore Practice Complex Tuesday morning.
The Pirates finished preparations for their second two-a-day, which is scheduled for Wednesday, and continued to progress toward Saturday’s intra-squad scrimmage.
“We had another day of full pads Tuesday and I like the way our team continues to progress from one practice to the next,” fifth-year head coach Ruffin McNeill said. “I think all three sides of the ball are working well together and we will keep moving towards getting ready for our opponents. But first we have to make sure East Carolina is getting better each day, and I believe we are doing just that.”
After going through basic drills and routes at the beginning of the practice, the offense spent periods against scouts working on screens, inside releases and with wide receivers going one-on-one against defensive backs. McNeill and his staff also dedicated almost 20 minutes to special teams work before concluding the workout with 25 minutes of team-on-team.
The Pirates will return to single-practice morning sessions Thursday and Friday before holding the first of two scrimmages of camp Saturday morning.
McNeill and the Pirates will participate in the 20th Annual Meet The Pirates event this Saturday, Aug. 16 inside Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium from 5-8 p.m. … Single-game, three-game mini packs and season tickets for all ECU homes games are still available to the Pirate Nation and can be purchased by calling the ECU Athletic Ticket Office at 252-737-4500, through the Online Ticket Center, or by visiting the ECU Athletics Ticket Office.
