Panthers Not Celebrating Playoff Berth Just Yet

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - The Panthers aren't celebrating clinching their first playoff berth since in five years.

There's too much at stake this week.

Carolina still needs to beat Atlanta on the road Sunday to clinch the NFC South championship, wrap up a first-round bye and secure at least one home playoff game.

Panthers safety Mike Mitchell says "the work is not done. We are in the playoffs, but it's not time to relax. We can make it a lot easier for ourselves and earn some rest and let other teams beat themselves up."

The Panthers (11-4) still have an outside shot to earn home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. Carolina would need to beat Atlanta, San Francisco to beat Arizona and St. Louis to beat Seattle for the playoffs to run through Charlotte.
