Panthers LB Kuechly Sees Room For Improvement

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) - Panthers middle linebacker Luke Kuechly isn't satisfied, saying he sees plenty of room for improvement coming off a record-setting season in 2012.

Kuechly became the first rookie since San Francisco's Patrick Willis in 2007 to lead the NFL in tackles last season and was selected AP Defensive Rookie of the Year after recording 164 tackles, three fumble recoveries and two interceptions.

Kuechly downplayed those numbers, saying "If I can improve on my pass coverage I'd be real happy."

The Panthers moved Kuechly to middle linebacker five games into the season and the defense climbed from 24th in the league to 10th by the end of the season. Coach Ron Rivera says Kuechly is a natural and his only advice to his assistant coaches is "don't over-coach him."
