CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- Panthers three-time Pro Bowler Jon Beason missed his second straight day of practice, increasing the likelihood rookie Luke Kuechly will make his second start at middle linebacker against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.
Beason missed Carolina's game against Seattle prior to the bye week with ongoing knee problems.
Kuechly was moved inside for the Seahawks game -- a position he played so well at Boston College -- and registered 11 tackles and an interception.
The big question entering this week was whether or not Ron Rivera would keep Kuechly at middle linebacker for good, a decision the second-year coach has not yet made.
Beason has said he prefers to stay at middle linebacker.
Starting cornerback Chris Gamble also missed practice after suffering a setback with his shoulder during Wednesday's practice.
