Pamlico County Hires Yost As Football Coach

Mr. Alan Woodard, former Head Football Coach at Pamlico County High School, has resigned from his coaching duties. Mr. Woodard took a leave of absence for the 2012 season due to personal health concerns. In his absence, Mr. Michael J. Twichell served as Interim Head Varsity Football Coach. Pamlico County Schools thanks Coach Woodard for his years of service as a coach.

Pamlico County Schools has announced the appointment of Mr. Kevin Yost as the new Head Football Coach at Pamlico County High School. Mr. Yost began working for Pamlico County Schools in August 2012 as a social studies teacher. He served as Head Junior Varsity Football Coach and Varsity Assistant Offensive Coordinator at North Raleigh Christian Academy for 2 years and Head Varsity Football Coach at West Craven High School for 3 years before coming to Pamlico County High School as Offensive Coordinator.

Coach Yost’s philosophy is to build young men with the game of football. “I want to win, but ultimately winning is measured by the type of citizens we build using the game. I desire to give our players the best opportunity to excel in the classroom and to play at the next level if they so desire. I want to give the families in the community the chance to see their students play ball in college and to get a college education. My desire for Hurricane Football is to make Friday night games the place to be in Pamlico County.”

Mr. Henry Rice, Pamlico County High School Principal, stated, “I feel that he has a strong foundation of bringing the best out of student athletics. He is well respected as a teacher and coach within the District.” Pamlico County Schools welcomes Mr. Yost to this new role and wishes him and his team the very best in the future.
