PCC Softball Nationally Ranked For First Time This Season

WINTERVILLE—The NJCAA released its weekly softball polls this morning, and for the first time this season, Pitt Community College has cracked the top 20.

At 25-5 overall, PCC is ranked 20th among the nation’s Division I junior colleges. The Bulldogs closed out regular-season play April 18 with a pair of victories over Richard Bland College.

Pitt enters this weekend’s Region X Conference Tournament at Louisburg College on an eight-game winning streak. The Bulldogs earned the top seed for this year’s tourney and will therefore play their first game Saturday at 10:30 a.m. against the winner of Friday’s contest between USC-Salkehatchie and Louisburg.

The PCC softball program is seeking its third straight trip to the national fast-pitch softball championship in St. George, Utah, and fourth trip in the past five years.
