NFL Players Descend On Washington

Friday was NFL day on the Washington waterfront with more than a dozen NFL players, many of them local guys, out signing autographs before their celebrity basketball game in the evening, and free football camp Saturday at Washington High School.

Terrence Copper was among those on hand. He told us, "This is where I was born and raised, and I love coming back, giving back to the community. I've got a lot of support here, you can see the kids, they enjoy the time just, spending with them."

Copper is currently a wide receiver with the Kansas City Chiefs. He played at ECU and went to Washington High School. He's also the one who recruited the other NFL players to come to Washington to sign autographs and meet fans.

Former ECU fullback and Super Bowl champion Vonta Leach was showing off his new bling after the Ravens' won it all in February.

Leach said, "It feels good just to win the Super Bowl, all the hard work we put into it. We had a lot of ups and downs through the season, but we got hot at the right time and guys just came together. So it was a great experience."

Leach is now a free agent, but says about seven teams are interested in him.

Once the players left the waterfront they took part in a celebrity basketball game at Washington High School against the Washington Police and Fire Departments. On Saturday they'll host a youth football camp- for free at the high school.
