Gottfried Ready To Start Work With Young Wolfpack

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - North Carolina State coach Mark Gottfried is eager to get to work with an overhauled roster after a disappointing season.

Gottfried says his program is "certainly in transition" with five incoming freshmen along with junior college transfer Desmond Lee. He says he doesn't know how long it will take for this group to mesh together with hopes of making a third straight NCAA tournament.

Gottfried's roster features two regular-rotation returnees in rising sophomores T.J. Warren and Tyler Lewis. The first oncourt workout with the freshmen came Tuesday afternoon, one of the first steps for a team aiming to exceed low expectations.

Last year, N.C. State failed to live up to a preseason top-10 ranking and its status as Atlantic Coast Conference favorite.
