GREENVILLE, N.C. – East Carolina junior shortstop Jack Reinheimer was selected in the fifth round by the Seattle Mariners Tuesday afternoon during the second day of the 2013 Major League Baseball First-Year Amateur Player Draft.
Reinheimer, who was taken with the 147th overall pick, is the eighth highest draft selection in school history. With Reinheimer’s selection by the Mariners, East Carolina has had at least one player taken in the last 17 MLB Draft’s dating back to 1997. Rounds 11-40 of the First-Year Player Draft will continue on Saturday, June 8 starting at 1 p.m. (ET).
