ECU Holds Off Rice 3-2

The ECU baseball team rallied in the 9th inning then held off Rice in the bottom of the inning to secure a series-opening 3-2 win.

The game was tied at 1 heading into the top of the 9th inning. Drew Reynolds broke the tie with a 2-run single. Rice tacked on 1 run in the bottom of the inning but Ryan Williams closed the door to secure the victory.

ECU starter Jeff Hoffman went 8 innings and struck out 7 while surrendering 7 hits.

Game two of the series will be Saturday afternoon at 1 pm EDT.
