ECU Ace Hoffman To Miss Next Two Starts

ECU pitcher Jeff Hoffman is experiencing soreness in his throwing arm and is expected to miss his next two starts according to sources close to the Pirate program.

Hoffman began experiencing pain during Wednesday's practice and was scheduled to pitch this Friday in game one of a three game Conference USA series at Florida Atlantic.

on Tuesday Hoffman was tabbed National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) National Pitcher-of-the-Week and College Sports Madness Conference USA Pitcher-of-the-Week following his 16-strikeout performance against Middle Tennessee last week.

The right-hander fanned 16 batters, while walking one and allowing three hits over eight scoreless innings in a 1-0 win over the Blue Raiders in game one of a the C-USA series on April. 17. To go along with his 2014 C-USA best 16 strikeouts, Hoffman recorded four fly ball outs and four ground outs, while retiring 10 of the final 11 batters he faced.
