Boone, Crowder Star In Duke Spring Game

DURHAM, N.C. (AP) -- Anthony Boone threw two touchdowns to Jamison Crowder to lead the Blue past the White 27-12 on Saturday in Duke's spring game.

Boone wrapped up his first set of spring practices as the Blue Devils' starter with an 18-of-30 performance for 273 yards while hitting Crowder for touchdowns covering 22 and 4 yards.

Boone had been the backup to Sean Renfree, a three-year starter who graduated as the most accurate passer in school history and led the Blue Devils to their first bowl berth since 1994.

Duke spent much of the spring installing a zone-read offense designed to take advantage of Boone's speed and mobility.

And yet Boone seemed plenty comfortable playing pitch and catch, too.
