Bobcats Want Newcomer Gordon To Be Their Finisher

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- Bobcats coach Mike Dunlap says when the game's on the line he wants the ball in Ben Gordon's hands.

Dunlap says Gordon, acquired in an offseason trade with the Detroit Pistons, is "an absolute killer" when it comes to clutch shots. Dunlap has been urging players in practice to make sure they're aware of Gordon's proficiency in that area.

Gordon didn't start the Charlotte's preseason opener and he may not start during the regular season. Still, he scored 16 points in that preseason contest and he'll get plenty of playing time, particularly in the fourth quarter.

The big challenge for the Bobcats is getting into situations where they have a chance to win on one of Gordon's clutch shots.

Last season Charlotte lost 20 games by 20 or more points.
