AP Source: Hornets Agree To Deal With Williams

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - A person familiar with the contract says free-agent forward Marvin Williams has agreed to a $14 million, two-year deal with the Charlotte Hornets.

The person spoke to The Associated Press on Saturday on condition of anonymity because the deal has not yet been made public. The person says the deal will be signed next week.

The 6-foot-9, 237-pound Williams has played nine seasons in the NBA with the Atlanta Hawks and Utah Jazz. Williams, 28, averaged 9.1 points and 5.1 rebounds in 66 games for the Jazz last season, including 50 starts.

He is averaging 10.8 points per game for his career.

Williams played college basketball at North Carolina, the same school as Hornets owner Michael Jordan.
