Pirates To Open Parking 2 Hours Early

GREENVILLE, N.C. -- In order to help alleviate game-day traffic congestion and enhance fan satisfaction, the East Carolina Athletics Department announced changes to some of Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium's parking policies which will be in effect prior to Saturday's Conference USA opener against Southern Miss and for the remainder of the 2007 season.

In addition, the Golden Eagle-Pirate matchup was officially classified as a sellout Wednesday, which will mark ECU's second consecutive full-capacity contest after drawing 43,387 fans to last week's 34-31 win over North Carolina.

All stadium parking lots will now open six (6) hours prior to scheduled kickoff. However, on games starting prior to 2:00 p.m., the lots will not open before 8:00 a.m. for any kickoff (see schedule below). In order to properly manage the lots, fans will not be allowed to enter tailgating areas prior to the listed opening time. Violators, who enter the lots prior to the designated time, are subject to a loss of parking privileges and possible towing of their vehicles.

Handicapped parking is available at the Allied Health Lot for a $10.00 fee, which includes round-trip transportation on a wheelchair-accessible shuttle. The Allied Health Lot is located at the corner of Charles and Greenville Boulevards with entry via Curry Court. The individual to whom the handicapped permit is issued must be in the vehicle to park in the handicapped reserved lot. Lot attendants may check for identification.

General public parking will still be available at the Allied Health Lot and College Hill Lot (bottom, near 10th Street).
