Vick Apologizes For Action After Entering Guilty Plea

Vowing to redeem himself, Michael Vick has apologized for his actions after formally pleading guilty to a federal dogfighting charge.

Speaking at a Richmond, Virginia, hotel, Vick softly and solemnly apologized to the NFL, the Atlanta Falcons and his teammates.

Vick, who has been suspended indefinitely by the NFL without
pay, said he "made a mistake in using bad judgment and making bad
decisions." He also called dogfighting a "terrible thing."

In court today, the judge in the case emphasized to Vick he is
not bound by sentencing guidelines or the recommendations of
prosecutors. The judge can impose the maximum sentence of up to
five years in prison, while prosecutors have proposed a 12- to
18-month prison term.

A sentencing date has been set for December 10th.
