K-Tribe Falls In Rain Shortened Game

Mother Nature helped Potomac beat the K-Tribe on Tuesday night as the Nationals won a rain shortened game 3-1. The tarp was pulled in the middle of the sixth inning and a hard down pour washed away Kinston’s hopes for a comeback.

Potomac took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning when Brett McMillan hit a double to the wall, scoring Greg Thissen all the way from first. A sacrifice bunt would advance Thissen to third and he would later score on a Justin Maxwell sacrifice fly. Kinston came back in the bottom of the third when Jose Constanza was driven home by an RBI single from Matt Whitney. Potomac would get the final run of the ball game on a solo home run by Chris Marrero.

Erik Stiller (3-5) picks up the loss for Kinston, going five innings, giving up four hits and two earned runs. Stiller struck out five and walked one batter. Neil Wagner pitched the top of the sixth, giving up the home run to Marrero. Justin Jones (7-8) picks up the win for Potomac, giving up six hits and one earned run through five innings.

The K-Tribe tries to avoid the sweep when they meet Potomac for the final game of the three game series Wednesday night in Kinston. Steven Wright will head to the mound for the K-Tribe, game time 7pm.
